North Georgia Camellia Society Meeting Minutes_March_18_2024

The meeting was held via Zoom and was called to order @ 7:10 pm by John Scarpucci, President.

Old Business: Discussion of recent Feb 2024 flower show:

-plant show profit $4,100

-in kind donations $2,600

-cost of show          $6,500

-Balance in society account $11,707.73

New Business:

How to increase club membership:

-send club information emails to our garden clubs, invite them to join us

-email meeting minutes to club members informing all of meeting discussions and stimulating interest in attendance

-post meeting minutes on our website

-start plant raffles during each of the three in person meetings

Discussion of location of next plant sale to be held in 2024 Fall and 2025 flower show:

- Cobb County Master gardeners event held in April

- Fulton County Master gardeners event held in April

-Chattahoochee River Park event

-St. Phillips Cathedral Farmers Market Sat. 8am-12pm April-Dec, approx. $100/table

-Lakewood 400

-The Elegant Elf in Sandy Springs the first weekend in December

A venue will be reserved soon.

Atlanta History Center contacted Penny regarding transfer of camellias and possibly arranging a service day of planting

Upcoming Events

Saturday, May 4, 2024 meeting at 10:00 am: In person meeting to be held at Bellmere Garden House, 10777 Bell Road, Duluth, GA 30097. Speaker: Rus Clayton discusses his fabulous Camellia drawings.

Flower show 2025: Date to be determined by the Atlanta Botanical Gardens

Target date: a weekend in early Feb 2025
